Blaire Calloway has planned every Instagram-worthy moment of her cupcake and cocktails shop launch down to the tiniest detail. What she didn't plan on? Ronan Knight and his old-school sports bar next door opening on the very same day. He may be super swoony, but Blaire hasn't spent years obsessing over buttercream and bourbon to have him ruin her chance at success.

From axe throwing (his place) to frosting contests (hers), Blaire and Ronan are constantly trying to one-up each other in a battle to win new customers. But with every clash, there's also an undeniable chemistry. When an even bigger threat to their business comes to town, they're forced to call a temporary time-out on their own war and work together. And the more time Blaire spends getting to know the real Ronan, the more she wonders if it's possible to have her cupcake and eat it too.

As two neighborhood shop owners battle for business, they prove opposites attract in this outrageously funny romantic comedy from the USA Today bestselling author of Meet Cute.

First things first, I usually love everything that comes from Helena Hunting. This time, though, I was a little bit disappointed with this book and I can't give it more than three stars because it really wasn't anything special.

Blaire and Ronan start off as enemies at first. They're also competitors with their bars right next to each other. They banter with each other until they see it'd be better if they joined forces.

Them becoming friends happens rather quickly; when Blaire invites him to her parents' place for dinner and their romance kind of starts there.
This book was sweet and romantic, but it was also boring because it didn't have any depth and it just wasn't anything remarkable.

Blaire and Ronan were both sweet characters, both of them doing the right thing all of the time and it was, overall, just a nice book. But it's certainly nothing I'd remember reading after some time.

I'm used to getting a little more from this author, especially when it comes to feeling the romance in the book. It didn't happen in this one because I couldn't really get into it and I really couldn't get into the characters since they were all so ... bland.

I felt like something was lacking and I can't really put my finger on it.

Overall, this isn't my favourite book from this author, but it's not the worst I've read either. It's ... nice. That's all I can say. Nothing too remarkable, no explosive romance and romantic stories, just two nice characters falling in love.
