I'm so happy that I didn't give up on this series after strongly disliking the first book in this series.
But every book that makes me cry automatically gets five stars. What can I say? I love pain.
This book. This book crawled into my soul and now it refuses to go out. It was filled with emotions and I actually loved the main characters, which rarely happens in L. J. Shen's books because I'm not into her villains much.
In this book, we meet Rosie and Dean. Rosie is the younger sister of Emilia LeBlanc (the female hero from the first book in the series). Dean and Rosie have a short history already from when he dated his sister, but nothing too remarkable. They shared some deep moments together, but nothing more.
Years later, they find each other again and Dean decides it's enough of the games and he decides he's going after what he wants - Rosie.
Now, Dean is a part of Hotholes. We've met Vicious in the first book, then we have Dean and then there's Tren who we'll meet in the next book. Dean is a player. He goes around. Dean was also practically the only person in Rosie's life that didn't treat her like she's going to break in half.
Rosie is a complete opposite. She just ended a relationship with a doctor when she and Dean meet again. She's a sweetheart, literally the most caring person ever. She's also sick and her days are counted, although she makes sure she doesn't let her disease rule her life.
Dean and Rosie's relationship is ... messy. But it's also raw and so good you can't get enough of them.
Dean is actually the first male character from her books that pretty much had it together. He made some questionable decisions in his past (like dating Rosie's sister and taking her V-card while he claimed he had his eyes set on Rosie the whole time), but it wouldn't be a L. J. Shen book without some messed up past where a lot of mistakes had been made.
I loved Rosie. She had this no-nonsense character and she never let anyone step over her. She was her own person and she was strong, even though she was sick.
This book just puts you into some feels. This one is pure romance. With a lot of chemistry and sexiness in-between, of course, but this book just makes your heart clench.
I also adored how Dean called her Baby LeBlanc. And I also absolutely loved how in the beginning of every chapter, there was this What makes you feel alive? section and I think this was very well done on the author's part because it was so lovely.

Ahh. This was just my kind of book; with a perfect amount of drama and romance, mixed together. They knew their days were counted, but they made the best out of their love and life.
