Release date: August 7th, 2018
Series: Wild #1
Pages: 390
Genre: Romance

Calla Fletcher wasn't even two when her mother took her and fled the Alaskan wild, unable to handle the isolation of the extreme, rural lifestyle, leaving behind Calla’s father, Wren Fletcher, in the process. Calla never looked back, and at twenty-six, a busy life in Toronto is all she knows. But when Calla learns that Wren’s days may be numbered, she knows that it’s time to make the long trip back to the remote frontier town where she was born.

She braves the roaming wildlife, the odd daylight hours, the exorbitant prices, and even the occasional—dear God—outhouse, all for the chance to connect with her father: a man who, despite his many faults, she can’t help but care for. While she struggles to adjust to this rugged environment, Jonah—the unkempt, obnoxious, and proud Alaskan pilot who helps keep her father’s charter plane company operational—can’t imagine calling anywhere else home. And he’s clearly waiting with one hand on the throttle to fly this city girl back to where she belongs, convinced that she’s too pampered to handle the wild.

Jonah is probably right, but Calla is determined to prove him wrong. Soon, she finds herself forming an unexpected bond with the burly pilot. As his undercurrent of disapproval dwindles, it’s replaced by friendship—or perhaps something deeper? But Calla is not in Alaska to stay and Jonah will never leave. It would be foolish of her to kindle a romance, to take the same path her parents tried—and failed at—years ago. It’s a simple truth that turns out to be not so simple after all.

I'm joining the majority of good ratings on this book, because it really is that good.

It basically has everything I love in a good story.

Slow-burn. ✅
Opposites attract. ✅
Huge character development. ✅
Scorching chemistry between the characters. ✅✅✅

The reviews on this book don't lie. This is a great story with amazing writing. It's a slow-burn romance and you have to wait for the build-up, but it's really worth it.

This is the book about a woman, Calla, that's used to the city life too much to even imagine going somewhere like Alaska when she receives a call about her sick father. But she knows this is the only and last chance she'll ever get to truly meet him, so she hops on the plane and flies to Alaska completely alone.

A city girl coming into the wild where you can't even buy any alcohol in the store and where coffee selection isn't Starbucks worthy is difficult to adjust to and Calla has some problems, especially since she and her father are basically strangers.

She meets Jonah the first day she gets there. He's the pilot that's responsible for flying her to Alaska. He's rude and reserved towards her, so Calla's first impression of him isn't nice. She later finds out that he's also her neighbour.

Calla is trying to adjust to the completely different life she's used to. She was convinced she won't like it there before she even got there, but, in time, the place and all the people grow on her. She knows her mother warned her about falling in love with one of these wild guys there (the mistake she did so many years ago with her father) and Calla didn't think that'd even be a possibility, but she finds it harder and harder to resist Jonah, especially when she finds out they started on the wrong foot and he isn't all that bad.

But Calla also has to deal with her dying father that she forms a nice relationship in the days after she got there and his company that's having a lot of trouble surviving and staying afloat.

We see a major change happening in Calla in this book. She turns more mature and she revaluates the things she finds important and to what she wants to give attention and priority. She matures a lot in her days that she stays there.

This was a fantastic read. It'd be hard not to love this book because it's perfectly written with a perfect story and imperfectly perfect characters.
