Vaughn Spencer.
They call him an angry god.
To me, he is nothing but a heartless prince.
His parents rule this town, its police, every citizen and boutique on Main Street.
All I own is a nice, juicy grudge against him for that time he almost killed me.
Between hooking up with a different girl every weekend, breaking hearts, noses and rules, Vaughn also finds the time to bully little ole’ me.
I fight back, tooth and nail, never expecting him to chase me across the ocean after we graduate high school.
But here he is, living with me in a dark, looming castle on the outskirts of London.
A fellow intern. A prodigal sculptor. A bloody genius.
They say this place is haunted, and it is.
Carlisle Castle hides two of our most awful secrets.
Vaughn thinks he can kill the ghosts of his past, but what he doesn’t know? It’s my heart he’s slaying.

You hear this? My disappointment is so loud you can probably hear it from miles. I don't know where to start. I am absolutely disgusted by this book. I DNFed it at 65 % (because I love torturing myself - I wanted to give up at 20 % already).

Just a slight warning; this review will contain mild spoilers.

I never cared for Vaughn Spencer much and I never particularly liked him, so I thought this book would change this for me. Oh, boy. Oh, boy.

Vaughn Spencer is a disgusting piece of sh*t, abusive, controlling prick that does disgusting things and then think he's oh-so-funny and mighty. Newsflash, he's not.

Lenora is batshit crazy and stupid. She's literally insane and it got to the point when it just got annoying and weird for me.

First scene that made me blink a few times in disbelief was that blowjob thing where Vaughn asks for a BJ from some girl that has a boyfriend - in front of her boyfriend. And she accepts. And Lenora goes with them to the empty room, ready to get down on her knees for a stranger, that girl's boyfriend, while the other girl sucks Vaughn off, even though Lenora has never done this before but she just wants to prove a point to Vaughn! Facepalm.

Then, later on, there's another blowjob thing (let's get real, we all know Vaughn loves those), where the same girl sucks him off in front of all his classmates, Lenora among of the people watching. Real boyfriend material, right?

Then there was this weird thing with Lenora wanting to hurt Vaughn and suck his blood because she was so obsessed with this blood that she was craving it. Yep. You heard it right. And nope, this is not a vampire story.

And those Vaughn's nice comments about Lenora:

Lenora was merely pleasant to the eye - and even that only from certain angles.

Right now her eyeliner ran down her cheeks, making her look like It the clown.

Their first time together was ... terrible. They were both virgins and it was just a super weird scene. And it happened against a wall. And right after that, they had a conversation if Lenora would ever want to lick Vaughn's a**. Be right back - I have to go throw up.

It's safe to say that this book was my least favourite in the series which is a shame because I absolutely loved Broken Knight and I thought that story was absolutely beautiful and held so much depth, heartbreak and love while this was one was just based on one messy, toxic and super weird relationship.

I think L. J. Shen took the whole enemies-to-lovers concept too fair with this one.
