I was so excited when I received an e-mail about the release of this book. When I tell you I couldn't wait to dig into this ... Although, when I finished the book, I was debating on whether to give this book three or four stars and after weighing all the cons and pros (i.e. all the things I loved and the things I liked a little less), I decided this book is worth the four stars I'm giving it.

My confession with this book is that I didn't like Eleanor at first. She was too shy for my taste. At least in the beginning. But she grew a pair during the book and she grew on me, too. She was smart with a witty sense of humour, which I loved the most on her. She turned out to be quite a fiery redhead and Becker was done for. Completely.

And then Becker ... He was ... something else completely. Egoistic, of course. Asshole, too, if you might. Super hot, as well. He was also intelligent as hell - and he wore glasses (hello? I could count on fingers on one hand how many male lead characters in the books I've read wore glasses). Which automatically makes him sexy as sin (sorry, I don't make the rules). But he could also be childish sometimes and unreasonably possessive when he had no right to be. He was a womaniser and he couldn't go past his ways.

❝"I'm feeling a whole lot of Beauty and the Beast going on here," he says.❞

He could also be rude, which Eleanor just took as joking. Well, she basically took everything he gave her and that's why there was my dilemma with my rating. I liked the hero, but I didn't like him. But I think that's the beauty of a well-written book.

Although I have to say that there were some scenes that didn't sit well with me and I felt the hero was borderline obsessed and even toxic.

And let me tell you! The writing is exceptionally good. I loved the humour, the comebacks, the way everything was written! I also loved that this book wasn't cliché, even though it made you think at the beginning that it's going to be. It was something very different with a very different plot than what I'm used to.

And that sold me. I can't wait for the second book because that cliffhanger at the end just about killed me.

Jodi Ellen Malpas wrote her debut series, The This Man Trilogy, in secret, worried about what people might think if they knew what her imagination was capable of. She was shocked herself. But she finally found the courage to unleash her creative streak and self-published THIS MAN - the first book of the This Man Trilogy - in October 2012. She took a chance on a story with a hero who soon became one of modern day fictions most prolific alpha male characters.

Jesse Ward – also affectionately known as The Lord of The Manor, sparked incredible reactions from women across the globe and catapulted Jodi into the world of women’s fiction. With so much love and enthusiasm from her readers, and a thirst for more of her words, Jodi suddenly wasn't afraid of her imagination anymore. She went on to write The One Night Trilogy with the delectable and mysterious Miller Hart, and stole the hearts of her readers once again. She’s now a proud #1 New York Times bestselling author – all six of her published novels having hit the New York Times best sellers list – as well as a Sunday Times bestseller and international best seller. Her work is published in over 20 languages across the world.

Jodi was born and raised in the Midlands town of Northampton, England, where she lives with her two boys and a beagle. She is a self-professed daydreamer, a Converse & mojito addict, and has a terrible weak spot for Alpha Males.
