When Nicole’s friend introduces her to Chris, the physical attraction is irresistible. A steamy affair with an executive is just the thing to take Nicole’s mind off the impending work reorganisation. With redundancy looming, the weekend with the sexy businessman doesn’t disappoint. But as the restructure rolls out Nicole soon discovers Chris Reeves is the consultant driving her company’s organisational change, making him strictly off limits.

As their professional paths cross Chris and Nicole are forced to pretend they don’t know each other. Harder still, they have to fight their mutual attraction. Nicole is thrown into turmoil having to choose between relocation to the other side of the world or redundancy, whilst staying professional and stirring clear of the consultant she’s intimately acquainted with.

Maybe redundancy would be the best option? Then their professional connection would cease, Chris would be fair game and Nicole wouldn’t have to move, she could stay with her friends and family. But is her career worth that compromise?

*
I have to say that this was an OK book. Certainly nothing over the top and I was struggling to get through it at some parts.

The plot was okay, although the story felt quick-paced at moments. I didn't connect with the characters, though. I didn't feel much chemistry between them and their first encounter was just too quick and not detailed or something to be memorable.

There are some things that rubbed me in the wrong way and some sentences were said in a way that just made me shake my head. A lot of unsupportive friends in this book, too, among Chris who came off as a selfish, egoistic prick.

Beware - spoilers below.

For instance;

"Go and lie down. I need to take a quick shower ... after that hot club I'm sure I stink."

Chris said this to Nicole after he took her home from the club where he didn't even dance, but he claims he's sweaty. And then he leaves her there on the bed to go take a shower and she's asleep when he comes back. Literally what the heck?

"If you've still got a job," I add quietly.

Coming from Nicole to her friend. How do you say that to someone? That was so insensitive ...

And then we have Chris who wanted Nicole to not accept the offer from her company just because Chris wanted to sleep with her - but couldn't because her job was in the way.

"If you're not ready to leave your family, maybe it's not the right time for you."

"Maybe the redundancy is the way to go. I mean, it's one hell of a package."

And let me not get started on when she was meeting with the sales director, alone, after 5 pm when there was no one around and his secretary gave Nicole this advice:

"That's awful - what if he tries something?"
"Then you let him and enjoy it." She winks.

Sorry, what?!! A woman to woman??? Nope, nope, nope.

The cover looked so promising and I could give just that five stars, but the story ... ugh, no. Not my cup of tea.
