“I hate you. I never want to see you again.”

Grant Malone is not the reason I moved back to Sunnyville—at least that’s what I tell myself. Yet, those parting words I said to him back in third grade, ring in my ears every time a townsperson brings up one of the Malone boys. I thought time had healed my wounds. I was wrong. Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when I finally saw him again.

Twenty years does a lot to turn a boy into a man. One who hits all my buttons—sexy, funny, attractive, and a police officer. But Grant is off limits because he knows too much about my past.

But I’m drawn to him. That damn uniform of his doesn’t hurt either. It’ll be my downfall. I know it.

What’s one night of sex going to hurt . . . right?

I’ve always loved Emmy Reeves.

That’s why I’m shocked to see her all these years later. The shy girl I once knew is all grown up.

Adventurous and full of life, she owns my heart now, just as much as she did back then. Convincing her of that is a whole different story.

I’ll give her the one night she asks for—like that’s a hardship—but when it comes to letting her walk away after, she has another thing coming. There’s no way in hell I’m letting her go this time without a fight.

Okay, this book was really nice. It was cute and sweet with the right of amount of sexiness in-between to spice it up a little. It seems that, lately, I have a thing for reading books about forgotten childhood friends to adults meeting again.

To start it off, Emily is a woman with a difficult childhood who's still carrying her broken pieces of trust with her everywhere she goes. And the reason her trust and faith are broken happens to come back in her life, all grown-up now.

Grant is someone with a presence, but he's a patient and sweet guy, someone that doesn't completely take the matters in his own hands, but rather lets Emily make her own decisions.

Emily is a hard nut to crack, especially when it comes to Grant, but he doesn't give up that easily.

❝"Because I've already gotten what I came for."
"Yeah? What's that?"
"You to be thinking about me."❞

He betrayed her, or at least that's how she sees it, but, in reality, he helped her and saved her, which she also learns.

Their relationship isn't really a relationship from the beginning, but the attraction between them is undeniable. Emily decides to put their past aside and focus on the man that's not in front of her and back in her life.

It isn't easy, especially when Emily thinks he betrayed her once again, but they manage to get past all the obstacles and turn their love into something very beautiful.

❝From here on out, we forget the memories and just chase the moments.❞

This is the book about second chances and people with difficult pasts, trying to make a good future. I have to say this was quite an enjoyable read with not that much drama. K. Bromberg's writing, as always, just blows your mind. She definitely knows what she's doing.
