We start off with a lie on Valentine’s Day.

My blind date isn’t the studious guy I expected: he’s a drop-dead gorgeous player with sinful amber eyes. Somehow we end up at his penthouse. I blame the gin and tonic.

The next day I learn he’s Jack Hawke—bad-boy professional quarterback with a murky past. The NDA he has me sign should be a warning that he isn’t a regular person. Please. I sign it Juliet Capulet, so goodbye, famous football player with abs of steel, and good luck tracking down this small-town librarian.

But Jack keeps showing up in places I least expect him. Just when I’m sure he’s gone, he waltzes into my community theater and wins the part of Romeo to my Juliet. How’s a plain, mostly innocent girl like me supposed to resist a man like him?

Is Jack my real Romeo… or will this gorgeous football player only break my heart?

I was so excited to finally get my hands on this book that I dropped everything to read it when it got released, only to end up slightly disappointed.

This book was cute and all, but it was nothing special and it quickly got boring to me. This was a safe read, nothing major happening with a few funny moments and a lot of cute ones, but the storyline just felt like it was dragging on.

I liked Elena and I liked Jack, but there wasn't anything special about that, other than Jack was a huge fan of Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and K-dramas.

The book started with a blind date on Valentine's Day where Elena mistakes Jake for someone else she was supposed to meet, but because she doesn't own a TV and lives behind the moon apparently, she didn't know who Jack Hawke is and she just went to his table and sat down.

Jack didn't realise what was happening at first but when he figured it out, he just went with it. After spending a night together, he leaves her a note where he tells her who he really is. Elena is pissed, unsurprisingly so.

But she sees him again at a club when her friend is celebrating his birthday and one of Jack's teammates comes and hits on her and then takes her to the VIP section because she wants to see him again to get her panties back that she made.

This book is filled with surprised and fate-filled moments that it sort of just feels funny to read because it's kind of unrealistically realistic.

And then we have the typical story about a man who can't trust anyone in his life, especially since his ex shattered his trust completely, so Elena settles to have a half-ass relationship with him because he's hot and charming. And the train then takes us to the typical last station; falling in love, although Jack, of course, is hard-headed and doesn't realise and - typically - messes it all up.

This was a quick and easy read for me with a safe story-line. I kind of had bigger hopes for this one, but it didn't quite meet my expectations. It was still a good book, though!
