You don’t know me.
You think you do, but you don’t.
The only thing you know is my name, and even that’s a lie.

I’m king of Boston, lord of criminals, ruler of an underworld empire. Or am I?

Only one thing’s for sure: I operate alone.

Until I cross paths with a brazen little thief who sets my whole kingdom on fire.

Just as two wrongs don’t make a right, two villains don’t belong together. Especially since she’s the daughter of my most deadly enemy.

Taking her would start a war.
Keeping her would be suicide.
Making her mine would break every code of honor and defy all common sense.

Then again, where’s the fun in following the rules?

❝I want you to lie to me. Just this one lie. Just this once.❞
He raises his head and looks at me with burning eyes. ❝Tell me you're mine.❞
I have to admit that I'm a sucker for alpha males when they're done right. I love the possessiveness and the persuasiveness. And, after reading the first book, which I absolutely loved, this one disappointed me a little.

You'll still get the whole deep, alpha love from Killian, but I felt the story was kind of off and it didn't interest me that much because it quickly got boring and it started to feel like you're reading the same thing over and over again.

The story starts with Juliet breaking into one of Killian's warehouses and stealing a truck of diapers. Now, this is the first thing that made me pause a little and get that, wait what? look on my face. And not only because she went and stole diapers with her friend, but because she's quite an amateur compared to Killian and, since he has top-notch security, I found that whole thing weird and hard to believe.

And then Killian meets Juliet and he thinks she's a goddess and instantly falls in love with her. I kid you not, he falls in love immediately

And then he starts pursuing her. Juliet is a little sceptic for the first half of the book. She's, normally, scared of him and what he's planning to do with her and her friends, so she doesn't trust him and she doesn't cave in to his tactics.

Juliet is already on the run and she's hiding from bad people who are looking for her. Killian promises to her that he's going to keep her safe and won't let anything do to her.

And then there was this whole Romeo and Juliet thing that was just too cliché and cringe-worthy because, hello, we're reading a story about a gangster and he's making all those romantic references. I have nothing against that, but there's a time and place for things like that and I felt like this story wasn't the kind of place this fit in.

So, for most of the book, we have Killian chasing Juliet because she's too unsure about him and he wants her to see that she can trust him.

I have to say that I still liked this book, but I didn't love it. I liked Liam more than Killian and that book also felt more realistically written.
