Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, Romeo?

Can you get anymore cliche? I’d heard that damn phrase my entire life.
Most of the time, it was when a woman was mid-orgasm—or, when I was about to take someone’s life.
You see, we all have our demons.
Apparently, my name was mine. Though it didn’t help me get my answers any faster.

I nodded when I was supposed to.
I smirked when I needed to.
I complimented when the timing was right.
Then… I’d send them to hell after giving them nothing but heaven.
I should’ve felt guilt.
I didn’t.
Because I was good at what I did.

Making people believe what I wanted them to was an art I perfected. In a world where nothing mattered but staying at the top, I made sure no one slipped through my fingers.
Except for her.
She was gorgeous.
One might say she was the female version of me.
I lost her once.
I wouldn’t lose twice.

Now was the time…

To let the games begin.

I'm surprised at the high rating and the positive reviews on Goodreads about this book because it was so awful for me that I couldn't finish it.

And I'm absolutely disappointed because I had high expectations. I'm a sucker for mafia romance and just look at this cover! It's absolutely gorgeous.

But the inside book is not so gorgeous. Let me just go straight to it: the writing. The writing was horrible. It felt lazy and sloppy with all the short sentences. No wonder I read 30 % immediately - you literally don't have much to read. And, therefore, the story felt rushed and just too fast-paced because I missed the details and I missed the sentences! The normal ones.

And then we come to the characters. One word to describe them: clusterfuck. I hated Eden with passion. She was annoying from the start, completely indecisive and just stupid

I hated Romeo even more. A typical playboy, of course, but an annoying one. He didn't know what he wanted and he let Eden, the love of his life, marry his brother because he was a coward and just wasn't prepared to be a man enough for her. But he's also a selfish prick and he fucks Eden when she's engaged to his brother, soon to get married.

But then, his brother dies, and basically, right after that, some weird spanking happens with him and Eden and they're suddenly both hot for each other. Oh, and how convenient, Romeo is the one who has to stay with Eden because she's in trouble.

I didn't read on after that because I've had enough. This is obviously not the story for me because I don't tolerate those things. And the writing was so off that I just couldn't bring myself to enjoy this book.
